2. Risk Matrix

Risks are evaluated using likelihood (1–5) and severity (1–5). Risk score = Likelihood × Severity. Scores 1–6: Low (accept with controls); 8–12: Medium (additional controls); 15–25: High (significant controls required).

4. Method Statement – General Sequence

  1. Pre-visit: Review job details, RAMS, and site-specific risk assessment. Check competence and PPE.
  2. On arrival: Introduce to client; confirm scope; identify hazards (including asbestos, utilities, access); establish emergency procedures.
  3. During work: Implement controls; maintain housekeeping; use PPE; carry out dynamic risk assessment if conditions change.
  4. Hot works / permits: Obtain permit where required; implement fire precautions; complete fire watch.
  5. Completion: Clean work area; remove waste; complete handover checklist; provide certificates/documentation (e.g. gas safety, electrical).

6. Emergency Procedures

  • First aid: First aider on site or accessible; first aid kit available; emergency contacts displayed.
  • Fire: Raise alarm; evacuate; assemble at muster point; do not re-enter.
  • Gas leak / carbon monoxide: Evacuate; isolate supply if safe; call National Gas Emergency 0800 111 999.
  • Electric shock: Do not touch casualty; isolate supply; call 999; administer first aid if trained.
  • Incident reporting: All accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences reported and recorded; RIDDOR reporting where applicable.

7. CDM Considerations

Where the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 apply (e.g. projects with more than one contractor, or lasting more than 30 days), we will fulfil our duties as contractor/principal contractor as appropriate, including site induction, coordination, and health and safety file contributions.

8. Subcontractors

Subcontractors working on our behalf must hold appropriate competence and insurance, complete our induction, and work in accordance with this RAMS and any site-specific instructions.
